Apple Watch Series 9

Small margin, tiny effort, and a check that takes ten seconds: does it pair. The Series 9 45mm GPS is the unit here. It is also the item with the most Activation-Locked units on Marketplace, because people unpair badly, so the one rule matters more than usual.

The ceiling is for exactly this: Apple Watch Series 9, as listed. Priced the way the app prices a target you add yourself: from eBay comps (11) on Sep 19; sells-for is 90% of the eBay median, the ceiling leaves 25–30% after you sell. eBay fees 13.6% + $0.40 + ~$12 shipping.

Is it the right one?

  • Watch app on the seller's iPhone → General → About: "Apple Watch Series 9", case size 45mm, GPS or GPS + Cellular. The ceiling is for GPS 45mm aluminum; stainless steel and cellular sell for more.
  • Series 9 has the double-tap gesture and a brighter screen; it looks identical to a Series 8, so the About screen is the only reliable tell.

Before you drive

  1. Ask for a screenshot of the watch paired in the Watch app (model, size) and confirmation that Activation Lock is off (they must unpair it from their phone, which erases it).
  2. In person, before money: the watch shows the setup screen, not a passcode or a locked face. If it asks for an Apple ID after reset, it is locked.
  3. Pair it to your iPhone in the parking lot. That is the whole test: if it pairs, it is clean.
  4. Then screen, crown, buttons, sensors (a heart-rate reading), the strap lugs. Pay after it pairs.

Bring

  • A watch charger (the seller's or your own puck)
  • Your iPhone to pair it on the spot
  • Cash

What to check in person

  • It must be unpaired from the seller's iPhone (which erases it) and show the setup screen. If it asks for an Apple ID after that, it is Activation Locked.
  • Pair it to your iPhone right there. If it pairs and reaches the watch face, you are done with the important part.
  • Screen: no cracks at the edge, not lifted (a lifted screen is a swollen battery, walk).
  • Digital Crown turns and clicks, the side button works, a heart-rate reading appears in the Heart Rate app.
  • Battery Health in Settings → Battery on the watch: 85% or better.
  • Charger puck included, band included and the right size.
The desk's own checklist for this unit
  • Watch must be unpaired and Activation Lock off — the seller removes it from Find My in front of you.
  • Match series, size and GPS/cellular to the listing in Settings → General → About.
  • Check battery health, screen scratches, and that it charges on the puck.
  • Ceiling comes from current eBay asks, not sold prices. Treat it as a starting point and tighten it with your own sales.

What goes wrong

Activation Lock
Unpaired in front of you, or nothing. The most common problem with used Apple Watches by a mile.
Wrong size or model
41 vs 45mm, GPS vs Cellular, aluminum vs stainless. Watch app → General → About shows all of it.
Cracked or lifted screen
Look at the edge in raking light. A lifted screen is a swollen battery.
Cellular with a bill
Cellular models may still be on a carrier plan. They work fine on GPS; the ceiling is for GPS.

The message

What the app writes for you, one tap, never above the ceiling. If the ask is under $115 you meet the ask; if it's over, you offer the ceiling.

Hi! Is the Apple Watch still available? I can pick up today with cash near Salt Lake City. Would you take $115?

Then, before you drive: "Could you send a quick video of it powering on and working? Then I'll head straight over with cash."

Where it sells

  • Local cash with a fresh band photographs well. Include the charger.
  • eBay is fine: light, cheap to ship, but only with the Activation Lock provably off.
  • Small margins, fast turns. This is a volume item, not a big-win item.

Sell it with a clean band and the charger, photographed on the setup screen so the buyer knows it is unlocked.

Why this one

Turns fast, ships for nothing, and every unpaired Series 9 on Marketplace is a seller who upgraded. Not a big win; a reliable small one to run alongside phones.
